Ta Da!!!

Here we go! this is Ashleigh's new purse! I might have to " borrow " it! I think it turned out super fantastic!! The Brown fabric is Michael Miller ...Splashy Rose. The Butterfly fabric is called Happy Butterfly (of course). The green is from Andover fabrics...I didn't get the name. What do you think? All of these purses are reversible Ash has decided the Splashy Rose will be her outside... for now!

Mommies picks...

Ok so of course I went to the Japanese Fabrics...I tend to go there first and look every time! However...I remembered I would be making a purse out of it sooooo...Believe it or not I picked fabrics that were in both of the girls collections! I guess we are cut from the same cloth!!! I know that was totally silly but I did have a great idea when I did it ...Now we can mix and match our choices and now 3 purses can be 6 purses...just by using the bits of leftovers!! Oh ya I am that good!!! Here are my choices!!! Thanks for looking!

Hailey's choices

So when I made the purses for the girls for easter.I had these 3 fabrics in my hand for Hailey's purse...I swear ...I put it down and went for the brighter thinking that maybe I would love those more than she would....It made my day when we walked in and she found these and new they would be for her!!! She didn't even look anywhere else! I guess I do know my girl... Sweet, soft and beautiful just like these fabrics she picked out!

Hailey's Quilt

As you can see I did the same blocks for both of the girls quilts. I think the different color combos make it look fairly different though. I did a double border for Hailey's and this quilt has a green back and Ashleigh's has an off white one. I have 2 faves for this quilt. I love, love, love the flowers I think they are so fun! I also used all of the fabrics for the binding so it gives it a bit of a patch work effect....Of course neither one of them use the quilts because 6 months after I finished them the girls got queen size beds and off to the cupboard they went! Sad Sad Sad.....

Ashleigh's Quilt

Ashleigh's quilt. I made this quilt for Ash a couple of years ago. I needed to be inspired to quilt again after taking a few years off so I took a class. I had taken this class before with Kathy and Michelle about 5 years ago and every one made a 6 set sampler.... I thought I needed to make more so I made a queen size quilt ( 25 squares) in the same time as all the others made the 6 squares. Yes I do always have to do things like that...I think I do it to test myself.... I should get some counseling for that!!! Anyway.... I asked if I could redo the same class ( I guess that is not something that gets done regularly) and told her I wasn't going to make a queen size quilt ...I was going to make two twin size quilts??!!! Yep she giggled and told me I wasn't allowed to fall behind the rest of the group. I didn't....again with the counseling....and here we go..Ash's quilt....I have a fave part of all my quilts...on this one it is the pipping beside the binding. I think that makes it look really " finished".

pillow talk

I made these pillows for Ashleigh's room....The fabric with the cherries was our inspiration for her room I wanted to make it bright and a bit more grown up....I think it works! I pleated the ruffle and used clear buttons to tuft it!

Hawaiian quilting

The last time I was in Hawaii I was taught how to Hawaiian Quilt by a group of ladies. It was one of the many things they were offering at the hotel. My girls got hula lessons, we learned how to make a traditional lei, learned to proper way to cut a pineapple to ensure the sweetness and I think we should have taken the ukulele lessons but sadly we skipped that one!! I sat with these ladies for a couple of hours and they were so great to teach me...I was the only on in the class and they all had the "best" way to do it! It was the first time I ever used applique and I fell in love.....I had to buy a wack of patterns and off I went! This is my fave....I made these into pillows for Hailey...I got the fabric I used for the pineapples in Hawaii...Yes I did go to a fabric store when I was there. Don't judge me!!!

A wallet of course...

Yeah... you guessed it I had to make them cute wallets... I think that they ended up to big...I think I could have done them half the size... Oh well you learn as you go along. I also think I should have used some sort of stiffener in the wallet to make it a little less floppy!

last ...Hailey's

I wanted to use the same fabric... ish... for both but I did want Hailey's younger and brighter! I think it screams Hailey!! This one is fully lined as well I... so love the color combo!! Just when you think I am done.. nope... I had to go ahead a make them just a little something else...yep that will be on the next post!

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

first.... Ashleighs

This was the inspiration fabric and I have to say I didn't interface anything and I didn't use an interlining I didn't think that they would use them for an everyday bag..I would if I were to make it for any grownup... It is fully lined so it could be a reversible bag which would be cute as well...I choose this color combo for Ash because I thought it was a bit more grown up...

I needed a easter basket??

Last year I bought the girls a bag and I used that for their Easter baskets...stuffed them full and Volia! This year I wanted to do the same...I wanted 'the' bag...your know when you have your mind set on something and nothing but that will do.... so I had the bright idea of making them bags...Yep... so here we go. I went to the fabric store and I think I spend hours trying to find the perfect fabric...again I had something in mind. So in the end this is what I picked out.

The quilt front maybe...

The front of my quilt is made of 4x4 blocks in a repetitive pattern. I wanted to keep this side fairly simple because at the time I didn't know what I was going to do for the other side...I did know I wanted it to be double sided...Having both sides fun. It was really after I had finished this side that I decided what I would do with the other side.....can you guess?? I will give you a couple hints...I have cut the rest of the fabric into 2.5 by 2.5 squares...but that is not how they are staying...I will show you soon...

roses etc

Im trying to "branch" out with new Flowers!! Thanks for looking!
